Mercy’s Light Family: Maternity Home
For young girls in Kenya, pregnancy is worse than HIV.
Mercy’s Light Family is a sanctuary for girls in pregnancy crisis and survivors of human trafficking and sexual trauma. Our mission is to end poverty for orphans and young moms in Vipingo, Kenya—spiritually, educationally, and financially—in three years or less. We save the lives of babies from abandonment and abortion, and promote the health and well-being of moms and babies throughout Kiliffi County.
Since its opening in August 2018, Mercy’s Light has been the only center of its kind in Kenya’s North Coast region, near Mombasa.

Future Vision: Bethany House
Refresh & recharge Christian workers with silent retreats.
Imagine Bethany House, a sanctuary nestled in the heart of Kenya, envisioned to provide solace and renewal for weary Christian workers. Here, silent retreats will offer spiritual refreshment while serving as a welcoming abode for traveling missionary teams. This vision seeks to cultivate a haven where souls are revived and missions are strengthened.
In November 2021, after encountering several struggling Christian ministry leaders on her trip, God gave Carrie, and subsequently Shawnee, a vision for Bethany House Ministry. Bethany House is designed to:
- Provide respite and spiritual development for Christian workers in Kenya through silent retreats.
- Develop the spiritual and leadership skills of our staff.
- Raise up more leaders for increased impact and safety.
- Offer accommodation for travel teams and missionaries, reducing in-country travel and allowing more time for ministry to the unreached people of Vipingo.
Next steps include increasing effectiveness for many ministries in the area, with a goal of raising $35,000 for 3/4 of an acre of land, located four rows off the ocean and just seven minutes from Mercy’s Light.
